私はこれまでに受け取った’グラニー・スクエア”のいくつかを示すだけでなく、どのようにかぎ針編みの伝統的なモチーフをお教えします。ヨーロッパ文化を楽しみ、東北の人々を助けましょう。

I will show several of the ‘Granny Squares’ I received so far, but also teach how to crochet a traditional motif. Enjoy European culture and help people in Tohoku.

Visitors will also be treated with European food and drinks and small European giftware on sale at different booths and stalls. The choice of products includes beer (Irish pub and Belgian bar), softdrinks, Hungarian food and wine, Austrian food and drinks and small giftware, Portuguese food and wine, Belgian “Liège” style waffles, French and Portuguese wine and Swedish wood-craft. There will also be 2 showcases: yarn knitting and needlepoint and a show of Polish traditional costumes with photo opportunity.

PechaKucha: Presentation of the Day – ぺちゃくちゃ：その日のプレゼンテーション

My presentation at PechaKucha Tokyo from last week is featured today as ‘Presentation of the Day‘ on the PK webpage. A big ‘Thank You’ to the PechaKucha team supporting ‘The Granny Square Project’. PechaKucha is currently running event in 643 cities. If each city would just send me 10 Granny Squares, I would have enough to make the world record and helping many people in Tohoku.

During the event a lady from the audience had prepared several motifs and kindly brought them over during the presentation. Thank you very much for the motifs.

If you have not yet attended a PechaKucha night, I would highly recommend you to do so. Each time I attended I met very interesting people and leant something new. Please see the PechaKucha calendar for an event near you.

ぺちゃくちゃ東京での私の先週のプレゼンテーションでは、ぺちゃくちゃのホームページで「その日のプレゼンテーション」として紹介されています。’グラニー・スクエア・プロジェクト’をサポートするぺちゃくちゃのチームに感謝します。ぺちゃくちゃないとは、現在643の都市でイベントが実行されています。各都市はわずかグラニー・スクエア10枚を送る場合、世界記録を出来ると東北で多くの人々を助けるのに十分だろう。

イベント期間中、観客からの女性は、いくつかのモチーフを準備していたし、親切にしてプレゼンテーション中にそれらを持って来ました。本当にありがとうございます。

皆さんはまだぺちゃくちゃないとに出席していない場合は、非常にそうすることをお勧めします。毎回、私が参加するたびに、面白い人に会って、何か新しいことを学びました。お近くのイベントにぺちゃくちゃカレンダーを参照してください。

It was great to see so many people taking interest in ‘Knit for Japan’. It is a wonderful encouragement to me. Since the show I received several parcels with more ‘Granny Squares’. I will post pictures over the next days.

The youngest crocheter, who joint ‘Knit for Japan’ at the Hobby Show, was the 6 year old Ryuyo. He made a beautiful red Granny Square. I hope he will continue to crochet. Mr. Naito was so impressed with his Granny Square, that he already offered him a job at Naito Shoji, when Ryuyo turns 18.

Another gifted crocheter prepared several beautiful ‘Granny Squares’ at home and brought them to the Hobby Show. It is always nice to meet the people, who kindly spend their time to support ‘Knit for Japan’.

‘Knit for Japan’に関心をとる多くの人々を見て素敵でした。それは私に素敵な励ましです。ホビー・ショーから、私はより多くの’グラニー・スクエア’の小包がいくつ届きました。私は次の日にわたって写真を撮って、ブログに写真をアップロードします。

ホビーショーで’Knit for Japan’参加した最年少のかぎ針をする人は6歳のリュウヨー君でした。彼は美しい赤いグラニー・スクエアを作りました。私は彼がかぎ針編みを続けて願っています。内藤社長はリュウヨーのグラニース・クエアに感銘を受けたので彼は18歳になるとき、内藤商事での仕事を提供しました。

もう一人のかぎ針をする人は自宅でいくつかの美しいグラニース・クエアを準備し、ホビーショーにそれらを持って行きました。

私はモチーフを作る人々を会うととても嬉しいです。

The Japan Hobby Show 2013 was a great opportunity to present ‘Knit for Japan’. Thanks to Naito Shoji, who kindly allowed me to use a large part of their booth. They also donated a lot of yarn for visitors to crochet ‘Granny Squares’. Over the 3 days we collected over 100 squares. Each day from morning to closing, people from 6 to 90 years old were coming and spent some time making motifs. Staff from Naito kindly helped with teaching patterns and how-to crochet a Granny Squares. Thank you to everybody who participated. You all made the 3 days a great success and very memorable.

日本ホビーショー2013に’Knit for Japan’を提示する大成功となりました。親切に内藤商事のブースを使うと本当におかげさまです。グラニー・スクエアを作るために毛糸たくさん寄付しました。3日間にわたって、我々は100枚を集まりました。毎日、朝から夕方まで、旧6から90歳までの人が来て、モチーフを作りました。内藤のスタッフが親切にパターンを助け、グラニー・スクエアの作り方を教えて挙げました。参加したみなさんに感謝します。皆さんはすべての3日間大成功作られており、非常に記憶に残ります。

First day at The Japan Hobby Show – 日本ホビーショーでの初日

We had a great first day at The Japan Hobby Show. From morning to later afternoon, people joint in and crochet 50 Granny Squares. Even a 90 year old lady spent some time and crocheted a wonderful motif.

私たちは、日本ホビーショーで素晴らしい初日を持っていました。朝から午後遅くまで、かぎ針出来る人がたくさん参加して、グラニー・スクエア50枚を作りました。でも、90歳の女性が一緒に編んで、素晴らしいモチーフを編みました。

Kids from KIST knit for Tohoku – KISTの学生は東北のために編む

I thought of saving the best for this year’s last post. In August Mrs. Rabenau, a teacher from K. International School Tokyo (KIST), contacted me. She had started a knitting class for her students. As their first project, each student had to knit a square for a blanket. Mrs. Rabenau asked me, if I would be interested in the finished blanket for ‘Knit for Japan’?

She invited me to join the group and help a little teaching continental knitting. Over the past months, I visited several times, becoming an adjunct knitting instructor. The energy of each student, their enthusiasm and passion to cast-on, knit and purl was a wonderful experience for me to see. Each of the kids truly knitted with their heart and hands for Tohoku. In a few weeks many squares were made, which are now in the process of being crocheted together.

今年の最後のポストのためのこの語を救うことについて考えました。 ８月に、K.インターナショナルスクール東京　(KIST)　のラベナウ先生から連絡されました。学生のために編み物クラスを始めていた。最初のプロジェクトとして、学生はブランケットのための正方形を編みなければなりませんでした。出来たら、それ’Knit for Japan’にを寄付したいでした。

ラベナウ先生は私がグループに参加し、学生を少しコンチネンタルニッチングを教えてあげます。８月から何回か行きました。学生の皆さんのエネルギーや情熱を見るととても素晴らしでした。皆は一所懸命目を作って表編みと裏編みを練習しました。心と手で東北のために編みました。数週間で多くの正方形を編んで今からかぎ針でくみ立ってます。
