Not 500, but 1,446 Granny Squares from Naito – 内藤商事から1,446枚モチーフ

This is awesome. After a recount, we found that customers and shop staff from Naito Shoji have collected 1,446 Granny Squares at shops around Japan. When I came home I had 3 large boxes waiting outside my home. There are so many wonderful motifs, I wish I could take pictures of each one of them. My Granny Square counter is going crazy. Now I am 50% on getting the motifs we need for the World Record.

これは素晴らしいです。再集計した後、お客様や内藤商事のスタッフが日本の周りに店でグラニー・スクエア1,446枚を収集したことが分かりました。私が家に帰ってきたとき、外で待っている3つの大きな箱を持っていました。非常に多くの素晴らしいモチーフがあります。私は、それらのそれぞれの写真を撮ることがしたいです。私のグラニースクエアカウンタもとてもハッピーです。今、私は、我々は世界記録のために必要なモチーフを得ることに50％です。

I just received an email, that customers of Naito Shoji have donated over 500 Granny Squares at various shops around Japan. I will receive them next week and will post some pictures.

Open Day at the Europa House – ヨーロッパハウスでオープンデー

The open day at the Europa House was a great opportunity to present ‘Knit for Japan’. Several people joint and crocheted Granny Squares. It was great to see, that some children picked up a crochet hook and got started on making a motif. One lady had prepared several Granny Squares at home and brought them to the event. Thank you so much for that.

ヨーロッパハウスでオープンデーは’Knit for Japan’ を発表する晴らしいチャンスでした。何人を参加して、グラニー・スクエアを作りました。いくつかの子供たちがかぎ針編みのフックを持って、モチーフを作ることに始まったことを、見て良かったです。一人の女性は自宅でいくつかのグラニー・スクエアを作成し、イベントにそれらを持って行きました。本当にありがとうございます。

Wow, 578 Granny Squares – これは本当に’すごい’です

This is amazing. Over the past month customers of Naito Shoji (NSK) and shop staff from around Japan have crocheted 578 Granny Squares. I had 2 large cartons waiting outside my home yesterday. So many different colors and designs. Thank you everyone. This is truly ‘Wow’.

これは驚くべきことです。内藤商事のお客さんとショップスタッフ、みなさんたった1ヶ月の間に、本当にたくさんのモチーフを送ってきて下さいました。578枚のモチーフを作って、送りました。私は昨日の私の家の外で大きな箱２個を待っていました。さまざまな色やデザインが届きました。皆さん、本当にありがとうございます。これは本当に’すごい’です。

Over 100 Granny Squares from friends – 友人からのグラニー・スクエア100枚

Over the past days I received over 100 Granny Squares from friends. 6 were made from someone I know from work. She mentioned, that she really would like to become part of the project and into the Guinness Book of Records.

Another dear friend and previous member of my knit cafe came all the way from Gotemba to give me another 26 motifs. That’s a journey of over 100 km.

And also my landlady also took some time and made 72 Granny Squares. What a great contribution.

過去日間に私は友人から、100枚以上のグラニー・スクエアが届きました。6枚は私が仕事から知っている友達から作られました。彼女は実際にプロジェクトのメンバーになりたいことを、言及しました。

Report about “Hand to Heart Vol.3” in Sapporo – 札幌で“Hand to Heart Vol.3”に関するレポート

The event “Hand to Heart Vol.3” in Sapporo seems to be a great success. People joint and made over 50 beautiful motifs in many different colors. Thank you Ohira-san for organizing it and making more motifs. I hope one day I can join you for another event in Hokkaido.

More and more Granny Squares are arriving. The other day I got a parcel with 26 beautiful squares. More packages are waiting. I will post pictures of them soon.

88 Granny Squares from Iwate-ken – 岩手県からグラニー・スクエア88枚

The other day I received a large box from Iwate-ken. A kind lady there has made and sent me 88 beautiful Granny Squares. Each made with such precision and details, like small pieces of art. Thank you Hiroko-san.

先日、私は、岩手県からの大きな箱が届きました。そこに親切な女性が作られており、私に美しいグラニー・スクエア88枚を送りました。それぞれがアートのような精度と細部で作られました。ヒロコさん、ありがとうございます。

私はこれまでに受け取った’グラニー・スクエア”のいくつかを示すだけでなく、どのようにかぎ針編みの伝統的なモチーフをお教えします。ヨーロッパ文化を楽しみ、東北の人々を助けましょう。

I will show several of the ‘Granny Squares’ I received so far, but also teach how to crochet a traditional motif. Enjoy European culture and help people in Tohoku.

Visitors will also be treated with European food and drinks and small European giftware on sale at different booths and stalls. The choice of products includes beer (Irish pub and Belgian bar), softdrinks, Hungarian food and wine, Austrian food and drinks and small giftware, Portuguese food and wine, Belgian “Liège” style waffles, French and Portuguese wine and Swedish wood-craft. There will also be 2 showcases: yarn knitting and needlepoint and a show of Polish traditional costumes with photo opportunity.
