Today I receive notice from Guinness World Records. They have received the evidence from our world record attempt. I can take up to 12 weeks to review the documents. So please be patient. As soon as I hear back from them, I will let you know.
My next and very sincere “Thank you” goes to all the people from Naito Shoji. We could have not made our blanket without you. Over many month their employees and shop staff helped in collecting Granny Squares, assemble blankets and set up many workshops and our final event in Ishinomaki. The event in Ishinomaki went like clock-work. They even organized a shuttle service from the event hall to the station. From my heart I want to say to all of the great people at Naito Shoji “Thank you so much.” I wish my Japanese would be better to tell you, how much I appreciate your help.
Last week we finished our world record blanket. The event has been a great success. There are so many people I have to thank, so I would like to start with my “Thank you No.1″.
My first “Thank you” goes to all the crocheter, who have sent me over 11,000 Granny Squares. I received so many motifs from all over the world. Each was like a small pieces of artwork. Thanks to all of you, who have made this possible.
Die dpa hatte von unsere Rekord-Decke berichte. Gestern erschien in der Rhein Zeitung ein Artikel dazu. The German Press Agency kindly reported on our record blanket. Yesterday, the German newspaper “Rhein Zeitung” carried the article.
When I started this project in 2012, I could not envisioned what we completed yesterday at Ishinomaki. On Saturday, September 20th, together with many friend and supporters we completed our world record blanket. The event was our attempt to break the current Guinness World Record for the world’s largest crochet blanket of 306.2 m².
The final count of the blanket is:
11,250 Granny Squares of 20 x 20 cm,
Finished size 476,78 m²
The blanket has now been made into smaller blankets to be given to victims of the 2011 earthquake and Tsunami in the Tohoku area.
The German Press Agency has kindly mentioned ‘Knit for Japan’ in an article to their subscribing newspapers. 2 German newspapers already have published the article. Here the link to the article on Main-Netz. Of course, the article is written in German.
ドイツのプレス庁は親切に’Knit for Japan’について記事を作りました。ドイツにある二つの新聞がその記事を発表しています。こちらで読んで下さい。ドイツ語です。
